FanFolder is a Windows taskbar utility developed by Ole Bhartvigsen that transforms any folder into an animated, arc-shaped popup menu for quick file access. When the taskbar icon is clicked, the most recently modified items from a configured folder fan out in a smooth animation, allowing users to open files directly, invoke the full Windows shell context menu via right-click, or drag items into other applications. The software works with local folders as well as cloud-synced directories such as OneDrive, Dropbox, and Google Drive, always displaying the latest files. Falling into the desktop customization and productivity launcher category, FanFolder is suited for users who want rapid access to frequently used or recently changed documents without navigating through File Explorer. Multiple animation styles are available—Fan, Glide, Spring, Fade, or None—and items can be sorted by date modified, date created, or name, with an optional regular expression filter for filenames. The item count, folder path, and display options can be configured through the tray menu or the registry. The current version is 1.4.3, and three versions of the software have been released in total. Deployment is handled through a per-user MSI installer that requires no administrative rights, and native builds are provided for both x64 and ARM64 architectures.
